Powerhouse Gym Members,

Thank you for your continued support of Powerhouse Gym.  We have had a very successful six-year business downtown and we owe it all to you. 
It is with mixed emotions that we send you this letter.  As with all things in life, things change.  Our personal lives have changed and we have been forced to re-focus our priorities.  Julie’s Dad is suffering from pancreatic cancer and she is spending every spare minute with him, as she should.  Scott is now the Director of Operations for the 125th Fighter Squadron and this requires much more of his time.  The squadron is preparing for its’ 10th deployment to Iraq since 1996 and this does not appear to end anytime soon.  Our children are entering high school and as involved in sports as ever.  We must put our family first and I’m sure that you will understand. 

The First Presbyterian Church (across Cincinnati to the west) has been interested in our real estate for several years and with our family re-focus and their continued interest has made us an offer that we could no longer refuse.  They have purchased the building and land and will close on the property the 14th of August.  This forces Powerhouse Gym to relocate.  Our original intention was to relocate the Gym downtown and continue business as usual.  Unfortunately, there is very little real estate available downtown and our timeline was short.  This along with our previously mentioned family issues forced us to make some tough decisions.

The good news.  St. Francis hospital has entered into an agreement to purchase the Gym portion of Powerhouse Gym.  All of the equipment and memberships will be transferred to the St. Francis Healthzone effective 15 August.  They have a 10,000sqft facility in the Mid-Continent building (3rd & Boston) on the 16th floor with free valet parking across the street to the North.  This facility has been in business since 1985 and has a spectacular view of Tulsa.  The equipment, personal training and aerobic program from Powerhouse will be moved to this facility and you will continue to enjoy the use of the best equipment in Tulsa.  The good people at St. Francis have also opened up their South facility (61st and Yale) to you as part of your membership which makes another 70,000sqft facility available for your use with no extra charge.  The South facility has pools and hot tubs which, is one thing Powerhouse Gym did not offer.   We believe this new relationship to be the best thing for you, the member, St. Francis and us.  This is the best situation based upon all available options.

In closing, we are not going out of business, we have just changed priorities and running a fitness center no longer fits as our highest priority.  We hope you will understand that this has been a wonderful experience for us.  We appreciate your loyalty to Powerhouse Gym and understanding during this difficult time.  Again, THANK YOU for your support of Powerhouse Gym of Tulsa.
